BalletLab Artistic Director Phillip Adams, invites you to share an exclusive insight into his next intriguing artistic process and is calling for your participation in a 2-day workshop, on 3 and 4 September 2016.
Led by Adams, along with collaborating artist Gregory Lorenzutti WORKSHOP 2016 will be part of a preparatory research period for Adams' upcoming commission for prestigious Brazilian ballet company, Companhia de Ballet da Cidade de Niterói (Niteroi City Ballet). Titled Pacific, Adams' work for CBNC will investigate the exoticization of traditional ceremony and the cultural pageantry of dance rituals like Rio’s famous annual Carnival. Inside the collision of cultures, Adams is interested to impose order through fluid bouts of contact improvisation played against traditional dance rhythms. Conducting his process through many unexpected experiments that disrupt known form, Adams invites you join him in the studio for an engaging 2-day workshop, and participate in an intense, confronting and powerful array of ideas ripe for experimentation.
