PIERROT LUNAIRE

23/10/12

Pierrot Lunaire opens tomorrow night! Phillip has devised a mise-en-scene for Schönberg’s highly abstract, expressionist opera. Phillip has created a salon experience of the opera written in 1912, in collaboration with Conductor Daniel Carter and Soprano Merlyn Quaife.

Phillip says, ‘The action takes place between the hunting music while the performances decadently re-imagine Pierrot, the clown of legend fit for the fag that has everything.’

A transgressive theatrical wardrobe of couture designed by the best of RMIT’s Fasion and design students will adorn the dancers. The choreography revolves around a changing-room-landscape of strange and unsettling costume changes.

Pierrot Lunaire will be performed by: Merlyn Quaife, Syzgy Ensemble, Andrea Katz of Songmakers Australia, and dancers Shian Law, Timothy Walsh, and Phillip Adams. The season is completely sold out.
